Bodes & Cigar Galaxies

This pair of galaxies sit 12 million light years away in the constellation Ursa Major. Despite their monumental distance from Earth, the two galaxies are only 150,000 light years from each other. The Cigar Galaxy is a starburst galaxy that has an irregular, distorted disk due to the gravitational interaction with the larger Bode’s Galaxy. Comprising 179 exposures for a total of 6 hours exposure time.
